OSSI-010-022 Wave Gauge Blue
Advanced Wave and Water Level Measurement System with Bluetooth Interface
Product Description
The Ocean Sensor Systems OSSI-010-022 Wave Gauge Blue is a high-resolution, self-powered instrument that measures liquid surface height at up to 32 Hz. It provides precise data for monitoring waves, tides, wakes, and water levels in marine, coastal, and laboratory environments. Data can be stored for over a year on CompactFlash cards and collected continuously or in burst sampling mode for power efficiency.
The system features a rugged waterproof ABS housing with an absolute pressure transducer zeroed at atmospheric pressure, and it supports both Bluetooth and RS232 communication for configuration and real-time data viewing.
Key Features
| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| Measurement & Performance |
• High-resolution surface height measurements up to 32 Hz • Absolute pressure transducer (zeroed at 1 atm) • Pressure ranges: 0–1 Bar (16 m), 0–3 Bar (46 m), 0–10 Bar (151 m) • Suitable for waves, wakes, tides, and level monitoring |
| Data Storage & Logging |
• CompactFlash cards from 64 MB to 64 GB • Continuous or burst data logging modes • Automatic file closing for safe removal • Data stored in ASCII format for Excel or MATLAB |
| Power & Battery |
• Powered by 12 × C-cell alkaline batteries (18 VDC) • Optional 28 × C-cell extended pack for long deployments • Low-power sleep mode between bursts • Interface software estimates battery life |
| Construction & Durability |
• Sealed ABS housing with stainless steel and Buna-N o-rings • Waterproof and corrosion-resistant • Compatible with mooring cables, pilings, or bottom mounts • Orifice must remain uncovered for accurate readings |
| Control & Interface |
• RS232 and Bluetooth communication ports • Free Ocean Sensor Systems Interface Software (Windows) • Real-time configuration, data display, and logging • Compatible with HyperTerminal (115.2 kbaud, 8N1) |
| Indicators & Operation |
• LED ON (3 sec): logging active • LED 1 Hz blink: safe to remove card • Fast blink: bad card or file not closed • “Close File” button ensures data integrity |
| Data Analysis Support |
• ASCII output compatible with MATLAB and Excel • Supports wave spectral correction and depth attenuation • Example MATLAB routines available from Dr. Urs Neumeier |
| Maintenance |
• Clean with mild soap and water • Apply silicone grease to O-rings regularly • Replace O-rings (Buna-N #233, #042) periodically • Keep interior dry — avoid saltwater intrusion |
